I love being a mother. My kitchen became a symbol of God's loving ministry to me, my children and to people, mostly children, in my minority neighborhood. This painting was painted in my first art class when I returned to college after my children were in college. It was paid for by a young man, a former cocaine addict who is now a Christian husband and father of three, out of gratitude because the Lord used me to bring him to Himself and he got off of drugs. Life wasn't easy, but what was true then when my children were in school is true for me now that I am a grandmother, often busy with my grandchildren, when I make the time to be quiet and read his word and pray, and give myself a little time to paint, Jesus gives me real peace!
